Fall signals the return of the Introduction to Road Racing Clinic. After a few years of sabbatical, Artemis brings back the much-in-demand beginner clinic. We want to provide you with all of the information that you need to know to start the 2012 race season ready and with confidence. NOVEMBER 6th is the date for this full day clinic. The morning session starts off in the classroom for the plethora of ‘basic’ information, and then we move outside for on-the-bike drills. Check back soon for more details.

So, as the Road season cools down, the Artemis Roadies take to doing some “fun” century and group rides to gain mental recovery leading them into the fall foliage, before darkness banishes them to their basement trainers.

The MABRA race scene seemed rather strange this season. After a long, unusually hard winter, and another early season of not having the Trade Zone Training races to help us test our legs (while still being bundled in fleece), it was time to get busy and race…kinda. This season definitely lacked the luster of seasons past. Races were getting cancelled and fields weren’t filling. Racers seemed kind of blah. Perhaps it was due to the economy? Despite all of that, Artemis was able to promote our two race events, the Bunny Hop and Dawg Days, both which are always fun courses for the racers.

PodiumThe Blahs didn’t stop some of us. With Masters Track Nationals being “local’ this year, Cheryl *finally* got serious about taking her sprinting ability to track competition. While being a novice amongst several well-seasoned, long-time, track-only racing women, she pulled out some podium spots and missed the elusive National Jersey by a tenth of a second! (Ahhhh, that’s how track racing goes!)  Even David (*finally*) took his monster sprint to the Track, too (although not for Nationals).  Thanks to our Team Trackie, TrackSean, for getting Cheryl to where she needed to be.

Even more Kudos goes out to Cheryl for winning the 35+ Women’s BAR for a second time this year! Combining the road with getting quality track time is a tough challenge.

John had several “Top 10” results, and Carole is starting to shine. Michelle got her first race in late in the season…but she did it.

Sandy, Iris, Adrienne, David L. and Jorge all were side-lined by injuries this season, but we look forward to them being full-on next season. Lisa’s time-trial rig got totaled by a car. Jeff just got new knees! (Good Luck with rehab!). Claire and Mona seemed to be the world-travelers this season, and both were away a lot…  David just found out that he’s having another “medical concern” again, so all of you guys who were thinking that you “beat Super-Dave”, just beware that he will be BACK and was racing (unbeknownst to him) at half capacity!

Conversely, the Cyclocross season heats up for some of us!  Evelyn and CJ (after doing her first IRON Man!) will be racing CX full force with some appearances from James. It’s already been fun and muddy.  Feel free to come out with cow bell in hand and cheer our antics!

We are definitely looking forward to the 2012 season. The current team is tight and we look forward to its growth and where it takes us. More importantly, we want to continue to support the sport that we love while having fun doing it!
